Jaguar XE vs BMW 3 Series

When you’re in the market for a new luxury sedan, you’ll more than likely find a ton of information in your research. For example, if you’re looking at vehicles like the Jaguar XE and BMW 3 Series, you’ll discover great features offered in each. However, you may wonder which model is more beneficial to your daily driving life.

At Jaguar Albuquerque, one of our goals is to help drivers like you near Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, and South Valley choose a vehicle that’s ideal for your lifestyle. To help our customers determine which vehicle is best for them, we put together this comparison of the Jaguar XE vs. BMW 3 Series.

Keep reading to learn the similarities and differences between these luxury automobiles, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

2020 Jaguar XE Interior

Inside the Jaguar XE and BMW 3 Series, you have plenty of room for five people. With all that passenger space, everyone can feel comfortable on even the longest drives.

The interior dimensions are pretty neck and neck. The XE and 3 Series make plenty of room for even the tallest of drivers with more than 41 inches of front-row legroom. Even the rear seats are spacious enough to keep you comfortable on the longest of road trips. The Jaguar and BMW cars feature roughly 35 inches of rear legroom.

Both vehicles also offer plenty of trunk space for shopping bags, luggage, and other personal belongings. Plus, with 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats, you can easily fit larger items inside while still leaving room for a backseat passenger or two.

Furthermore, each car offers a hands-free trunk lid. If your hands are full, you can swipe your foot under the rear bumper. The trunk will then open in seconds for quick and easy loading.

When you want the ultimate look and feel of luxury, you can’t go wrong with either the 2020 XE or 2020 3 Series.

Both models come standard with synthetic leather upholstery and offer leather seating in higher trim levels. In fact, the leather used in the XE is sourced from some of the finest hide suppliers in the UK and Italy. The result is a natural, glove-soft feel with twin-needle leather stitching that enhances durability.

Additionally, you’ll find lots of impressive amenities inside these automobiles, which includes creature comforts, such as heated front and rear seats along with a heated steering wheel. Plus, the XE offers ventilated front seats to help cool you down on hot summer days.

The Jaguar model offers 18-way power front seats as well. This seat allows you to get into your ideal seating position right away.

Unfortunately, the BMW model only offers 14-way power-adjustable front seats.

Jaguar XE Technology

When it comes to luxury vehicles, you can expect there to be lots of high-tech features inside. Such is the case with the X3 and 3 Series, where you’ll find innovative technologies in both automobiles.

The 2020 Jaguar XE comes standard with an InControl Touch Pro™ Duo infotainment system. All your media options appear on a 10-inch touchscreen, and you can easily navigate your way around through voice command.

The Jaguar also offers Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ as standard features. You can download various apps onto your smartphone, then plug the device into the vehicle’s USB port. As a result, you can listen to music, send text messages, and more without needing to touch your phone while driving.

The 2020 BMW 3 Series comes with an advanced infotainment system of its own as well. However, the standard screen is just 8.8 inches. The 3 Series does offer smartphone integration in the form of Apple CarPlay®. Unfortunately, this feature is only standard for a 1-year trial and then requires a subscription. Plus, it doesn’t offer connectivity for Android phones.

When it comes to safety, the Jaguar and BMW vehicles offer plenty of features to give you great peace of mind.

For instance, they each offer cutting-edge driver-assisting technologies, such as:

  • Blind Spot Assist
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Lane Keep Assist

Another useful feature available in the XE and 3 Series is a 360° Parking Aid. It gives you a complete view of your surroundings and displays those images onto the vehicle’s infotainment screen. This system makes parking by a curb or getting in and out of tight spaces easier.

The Jaguar XE also makes a Driver Condition Monitor standard. It monitors steering inputs and brake and accelerator activity to detect the symptoms of drowsy driving. The system will warn you to pull over and rest before you continue driving. The BMW 3 Series, unfortunately, lacks this feature.

Jaguar XE Performance

The 2020 XE and 3 Series both offer two engine options. Their base engines are similarly powered. They both run standardly on turbocharged 4-cylinder engines with roughly 250 horsepower on tap. That’s more than potent enough for spirited daily driving in these luxury sedans.

However, the Jaguar vehicle comes standard with All Surface Progress Control. This feature acts like a low-speed cruise control that helps you stay in control in low-traction situations. You set a target speed between 2.2 and 18.6 MPH, and the system will work to maintain that speed while traveling in the snow, rain, or on wet grass.

Unfortunately, this type of feature isn’t available inside the BMW vehicle.

Although both the Jaguar XE and BMW 3 Series are great choices when looking for your next luxury sedan, the 2020 XE comes with more features and is more fuel-efficient. As a result, it comes out on top in this comparison.
